Gardens of Rashtrapati Bhavan open from January 31: Steps to book slots, Dates, and more

The Mughal Gardens at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the residence of the President of India, has been renamed as ‘Amrit Udyan’. The step was taken on the occasion of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, celebrating 75 years of India’s independence. According to an official statement, Amrit Udyan would open to the public from January 31, 2023. It will remain open till March 26, 2023.

President Droupadi Murmu will attend the annual opening of the gardens – Udyan Utsav – on January 29.

Spread over 15 acres, the Amrit Udyan garden is often described as the heart of the President’s residence, according to the Rashtrapati Bhavan website. It includes Bonsai Garden, Circular Garden, Long Garden, Herbal Garden, and Central Lawn.

Amrit Udyan: Opening and Closing Dates

  • Amrit Udyan will open for the general public on January 31, 2023, and will remain open till March 26, 2023 (except on Mondays which are maintenance days, and on March 8 due to Holi).

From March 28 to 31, the gardens will be open for special categories:

  • For farmers on 28 March
  • For differently-abled persons on 29 March
  • For personnel of Defence Forces, Paramilitary Forces, and Police on 30 March
  • For women including tribal women’s SHGs on 31 March

One can visit the gardens from 10 am to 4 pm in any of the six available slots. Around 7,500 visitors will be allowed in the two forenoon slots, while a maximum of 10,000 people can visit the four-afternoon slots from 12 noon to 4 pm. The entry to the gardens will be from Gate no. 35 of the President’s Estate.

How to book a slot to visit Amrit Udyan?

People can book their slots in advance through online booking. Booking can be done at rashtrapatisachivalaya.gov.in or rb.nic.in/rbvisit/visit_plan.aspx.

Walk-in visitors can also get entry to the Gardens. However, they will need to register themselves at the Rashtrapati Bhavan’s facilitation counters as well as at the Self Service Kiosk near Gate No. 12 of Rashtrapati Bhavan. To avoid crowds and save time, you can book a slot online in advance.

Amrit Udyan Attractions

12 special types of tulip flowers have been planted in the garden. There are also selfie points in the garden, as well as the food court will also be operational here. People will be able to get information about varieties of plants from the QR code. Also, there are 120 types of roses and 40 scented roses.
